How Does Our Brain React to Being Upset?

3rd Grade:
Hardworking Student 1.When a difficult situation occurs, I am able to stop, identify the problem and my feelings, before making a choice about how to respond.  I know what it means to have coping strategies and can name at least 3 that I know work for me.


Review previous lesson about responding to peer aggression. Ask the question: When you are in a tough situation, dealing with difficult feelings, how do you avoid lashing out at others?

Model of the brain- activity and discussion- introduce idea of emotional intelligence


What makes you "flip out"?  Write a list of things that upset you.  Associate a feeling word(s) with each situation.
