Parent Resources- Helping Children Process Difficult News

 Dear Pond Cove Parents,

As parents and educators, we might be struggling with how to help our children process all the upsetting news that seems to be constantly at our door.  We might be questioning what we should and should not say and how to open up a dialog, so that our children can process and feel safe and supported.

I thought it may be helpful to provide a few resources to help guide our conversations with our kids.  The links below include resources to help parents talk with their children about the recent violence at the US Capitol, as well as general information about supporting and talking to children in light of difficult local, national, and world events.  I will also be posting a mini-lesson for students that will be focused on dealing with difficult news and world events in general.  The lesson will encourage students to turn to trusted adults for information and support.

Please also feel comfortable reaching out to me directly if I can be supportive in any way.

Thank you.
