Mini-Lesson #5- Perspective taking

Sometimes it can feel like we are the only one struggling.  It can help to look at things through the perspective of others.  Thinking about how others may be feeling helps us develop empathy and compassion.  Check out today's video to learn more:

I forgot to mention our book for the day!  Please check out the book link below for The Tale of Two Beasts, my favorite perspective taking book!

Follow Up Activities:

  • Write from your pets perspective!  What does your dog, cat, fish, or hamster think about you being home all the time?
  • If you don't have a pet you could write from the perspective of a wild animal who is noticing all the people staying home.
  • Think about the perspective of other people in your life.  Adults, put yourselves in your kid's shoes.  Kids, what do you think the adults in your life are thinking and feeling?  What about your 2 year old brother or 16 year old sister?  What is all this change like for them?
  • Remember, being able to think about someone else's perspective helps us to develop empathy!  We need empathy for tough times!
PLEASE, watch this read aloud featuring one of my favorite books about perspective taking!  Like my video, it features an adorable small creature!
